Another of the eagles from Conowingo Dam, this one from it's markings is a three year old If I could hazzard a guess. The sun had retreated under cloud when this guy made his catch, but I liked the pose and thought I'd see what you all thought. After the issue with my previous post I recalibrated my monitor, so hopefully the color cast and luminance issues are removed.

Fun to shoot this action -- on my monitor there is no detail in the Eagles body and extended wing -- like the capture you made but needs more light on the eagle

Hi Chuck,

I agree with Scott in that the shadows could be lightened up a bit to pull out more detail. Pose is great with prey and water drops too.

Hi Chuck, no idea what the EV was and if it works in the same way as Canon, but I would have + it, however you then loose SS. Forget the BKG it's the body you want to exposure for, however, please don't tell me you were using Spot metering here.

If you lighten it to recover detail you will introduce noise in the darks & shadows.

Hope you had a good TG.

Cheers
Steve

Great shot Charles, I might try increasing both the contrast and brightness a bit.

Charles,
This is a classic pose, but as most others have said the eagle is a little dark.
You could try a very tiny amount of shadows (5%) in S& H, it works for me and certainly does not seem to add noise albeit on a small JPEG

Great capture Charlie
you've nailed the moment.
For me it is a but dull/dark overall and there is not much detail in the dark plumage.

Actually IMHO you have decent detail in the dark areas of the eagle. Great capture of the action! These are not the easiest subject to capture with decent detail in the dark or light areas while in action. You did not list the light conditions, but I would guess it was fairly dull, overcast light from the looks of the BG. Thanks for sharing.
