Another attempt at composing a meaningful frame from our zinnias this spring/summer. Comments appreciated, let me have it
F/8, 1/1000th, ISO 400, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x while set up for b-flies. 11:30am & clear.

Howard: I think you succeeded nicely. I really like your POF/DOF choice and the lone odd man out colored bloom. Superbly crafted image.>=))>

I am a bit on the fence here, Howard. It's a very original composition, and I find sometimes it takes time to appreciate something like this. My first impression is that, while the layering of the flowers is a very nice idea, the flower above the main subject detracts from it somewhat. I guess nothing could be done about that - anyway there is much to like here in a very creative composition.

I like the composition, Howard. Tough to select which of the Zinnias to focus on. I'm wondering if you have the orange blossom in the back as one of those selections? Be cool to see which one works best. Love i t as posted. :wavey:

Unusual comp with four flowers in the corners (more or less), but works fine for me, Howard. I like the way each flower seems to have different focus.

I think this works very well, Howard. Would make an interesting quarter of four different images with each flower in focus.

Lovely crowd, Howard. Works for me. I like your focus choice and the pose of the main flower.

I like the way you managed the different layers in this image.

BG and colours are perfect.

The DOF really makes this shot a standout. Unusual choice that makes it unique.
