Just Chasin' Does

These 2 bucks were following a doe ahead of them. Too far ahead to get into the photo. This is somewhat unusual as the bigger buck doesn't seem to mind having the smaller yearling be fairly close. The younger bucks, while interested, usually keep a respectful distance. The bigger buck has an unusual tine on it's right side. It will be interesting to see if it gets bigger each year. The small buck is all wet so I surmise that it just swam the river to join in the festivities. We have quite a few buck show up during the rut that are not seen the rest of the year. In Lightroom, I warmed this slightly, then added some contrast and clarity. This is full size. Should I have cropped this to focus more on the deer? Comments appreciated.

Tech Info

Canon EOS 60D with 70-200mm f/4 at 200mm
1/800th at f/4 and ISO 1000

It is a nice image Peter, but it does need to be cropped IMHO, to be the focus on the deer. I do like the tree in the BG that sort of looks like antlers. Thanks for sharing.

Peter,

You're seeing what I'm seeing. Bucks beginning to chase does. I know you'll agree, it's lots of fun. The big bucks are distracted and that makes getting a decent shot easier. Unusual rack on the large buck. Nice capture.

This image shows the wonderful habitat which I like a lot. Their bodies are overlapping in this frame which is bit distracting. Overall a nice image.
