The light and the rainbow really transform this otherwise prosaic shot. It's always, always about the light! :toast:

Nice capture of the rainbow ending at the trees in the distance, Dave. Reminds me a little of Galen Rowell's famous rainbow image. Where's a tibetan monastery when you need one?

The Carrizo is a pretty special place. Great photo with the threatening skies and the rainbow. And nice light on the Temblors. Good catch. There were some huge solar projects proposed for areas nearby. I secretly hope they got turned down. But I don't know. Not keeping up on things now that I'm retired.

I'm pretty sure those solar projects got built, Peter. I remember seeing them on Google Earth and they are BIG but a few miles north of the Carrizo Plain proper. I guess we need renewable energy from somewhere and it's better than what's happened to the landscape on the east side of the Temblors between Taft and McKittrick; i.e., heavy oil production. I haven't been to the C Plain in a few years due to the lack of rains = lack of flowers. Hopefully this year!

Dave, This is really an interesting image to look at (which I like a lot). The light, color and conditions are amazing. It has kind of an eerie feel that works great! Good you were able to capture this!

Thanks Scott for reminding me of Rowell's famous book cover, I didn't have that in mind when I snapped this. Wish he (and his wife) were still around :frown: :frown:

This image is wonderful Dave, and it has that eerie calm about that happens after a big storm has just passed. What a treat to view in person, and you captured the moment beautifully.
