The colors and details are great. Great DOF, the tip of the antenna to the back wings are sharp. Maybe just a tad more space under the flower. Thanks for sharing.

WOW, this one is really stunning for overall detail and color, Howard. What a gorgeous take, eh?......Background area and DOF is perfect too. I could buy in on a bit more space below the flower, but easily changed with some more canvas and a CA with cleanup. Obviously not a deal breaker or nit, just a thought for another look see.

EXCELLENT....... :toast:

Beautiful butterfly on a beautiful perch. They both stand out nicely from the bg. I love the rich colors and details. Nice shot

This has really beautiful lighting and color. The sharpness and detail are excellent. I agree with John and Paul that this would be even better with a little more space under the flower.

Thank y'all for your comments.
Plain to see my aim was slightly high.
Extending/cloning i.e. adding bottom proved to too difficult @ the base of the flower, such as it is.

"I could buy in on a bit more space below the flower, but easily changed with some more canvas and a CA with cleanup."
Easily changed? I've been saving images through cloning/adding canvas for quite awhile. Yes, it could be done here Paul.
But I have to weigh whether an image is worth the time & effort.. And my initial attempts proved unsatisfactory.
This was one in a series of snaps.

Hi Howard :wavey: OK!! in a perfect world, the flower is a bit tight.. but time is valuable, and i agree the trouble was not worth it.  but you did a darn good job [as usual] on the detail and color of the butterfly & flower :toast:

What a fine look at the bf, Howard. The details in it's eye and wing are awesome plus you color coordinated it so well with your zinnia. Since some folks would like a bit more space at the bottom and you say it's a major challenge, I wonder if cropping the bottom 1/3 off the flower would make it look like a deliberate choice and put even more focus on the bf?

Hey Howard,
I like this one as is, the composition is well balanced with a great BG, outstanding detail and wonderful colors. The flower is just a perch in this image and has no relevance otherwise, more room at the bottom serves no purpose IMO.
Well done . . . :toast:
