I took this shot this past May at a ranch near McAllen, Texas. This bird is found in Central America, Texas and Oklahoma.
Taken with a D4, 500 mm and TC 1.4, at 1/4000, f/7.1, ISO 1800 and -2/3ev. This is about 80% of the original. Richard

Cool looking bird. Need to see larger version to fully appreciate. the bird placement in the frame is ideal IMHO, as it doesn't compete with the vegetation. Not sure why the high ISO and shutter speed unless you were expecting him to fly. Well done.

Excellent as posted. Very nice image quality for the ISO - I never would have guessed it.

Nice colors and I like the vegetation on the right side -- just oof enough to give the picture some depth

Sweet portrait of this handsome woodpecker Richard. I like the spot light effect of this photo.

Wonderful pose and nice species! Also like the composition a lot ! On the green leaves on the right I see some white spots ? No idea if this is noise, but maybe worth trying to fix ! Cheers,Hans

Nice pose and head turn on this one Richard. I agree with Hans about the right side looking a bit noisy, however, it is an easy fix. Nice work
