A Japanese maple against the NW forest background in the West Hills of Portland Oregon this morning. It is actually peak fall color right now in the pacific NW.

I like the composition, but my first reaction when I opened the image was that it is dark. I would like to see it lightened up a little.

Love the Japanese maple in full fall regalia, Dan. But what I like even more, are the twin trunks of the larger trees in looming in the background. It would be very difficult for me to make sense of this kind of scene and I appreciate those who can. Very nice.

Interesting effect. It sort of feels like a negative instead of a positive, or maybe a mixed negative/positive. It's a bit confusing, but also engaging.

Dan, I really like this look. To me with the back-lighting it almost looks like an inflated parachute in decent. Canopy, strings, and all....nice view.

I like this a lot. It seems as though it is painted with light which highlights the details of the maple leaves as well as textures in the bark of the Douglas Firs.

Really like this Dan especially the dark backround and the wonderful light on the leaves. Great job on this and a great eye to spot this. Way to push your processing to a new level.

I like the effect of the dark background with the glowing golden leaves in the foreground, and the tree trunks and branches bring structure to the image.
Nicely seen and captured Dan.

Interesting play of light and shadows. I love Japanese maples- a larger print of this would be really interesting for the leaf detail.
