I took this shot along the shore of Lake Michigan at Wilderness State Park in early June of this year. I was hoping to photograph a mature specimen, but these teneral or freshly emerged individuals were all that I could find. I waited for clouds to cover the sun so that I could take advantage of some soft lighting. K5 IIs, 300mm + 32mm extension f4 at f14, ISO 500, 1/250sec..............Jim

Wow, that's sharp, Jim. Practically wing tip to wing tip sharp. Excellent detail . :toast:

A really unusual perch for a dragon fly and the DOF you captured was amazing even at f/14

Sharp and great DOF Jim.
I like the DF's position in the frame, good angle of view.
Nice shooting strategy, great light :toast:

This youngster hides well in plain sight, Jim. You've got fine details in the face and thorax.
