Last year I posted a few compositions of oil on water abstracts with leaves. This year I wanted to try to find interesting examples of this phenomenon without leaves.

Canon 5D II
Canon 180mm f/3.5L Macro
180mm, f/22, 0.3 second, ISO 50

Very nice abstract. I like the patterns, reminds me of a snowflake. But is this the proper gallery for this type of shot?

Fascinating abstract, absolutely love it! Looks really inviting to take some close-ups of just the oil parts as well.

Fascinating, Jim. At first glance I thought this was frost. Really cool find and very well presented.

Jim,

You have presented so much balance in this composition, well done. This is my first time ever seeing this phenomenon, and it is wild. Such a wonderful color palette to enjoy in this fine image.
