Meditation !

I was elated to watch the behaviour of this Dragonfly. It was sitting calmly on an extended branch of a small plant, as if it got completely immersed in the serenity of nature. I started shooting lying low on the ground and tried to get close as much as I could. The intention was to make an image that would show the mystic environment rendered by the tall trees in the backdrop and the warm light filtered through the branches.

Well-spotted, Sandipan. I like the concept and the placement of the subject. I think the only thing holding it back is the thicker patches of black on the right side, since the orange speckled background really is great.

I really like this Sandipan, think you did really well seeing the opportunity to get this shot, do wonder how it would look with a bit tighter crop maybe loosing a bit from the right ,just a personal view of course and knowing me could be very wrong.
Pleased you showed us this image.

I like the silhouetted dragonfly against the fine warm background. As presented this makes an interesting minimalist statement. As someone who does lots of macro/close up work, I think a significantly closer view (or with a much longer lens) would tell the same story while letting the dragonfly silhouette play a larger role...I imagine an image using the lower left 1/4 of this view...

Hi Sandipan,

I like this shot - high graphic appeal. I do agree with the idea of cropping from the right to remove some of the visually-heavy darker regions (especially the bulk of the widest black region). Then - if image was mine - I'd crop from top to return image to original aspect ratio.

Cheers...
