The winter birds are hitting Northwest Indiana earlier and heavier so far this year. Had 3 Pine Siskin for a day at our feeders and was able to get this shot off. I'm happy with it, so I thought I would share.

Sigma 150-500mm @ 500mm
1/250 @ f8
ISO 800
Taken through window, handheld

A nice, clean shot of this colorful and energetic species. I think the window may have cost you some sharpness, especially in the head, but the sweet background balances things out.

Hi Jason,

Siskins have been hanging around here in Michigan too with an inch oif snow falling last night. The glowing background works well with the plumage of the siskin. You might be able to get a little more sharpness on the head, but I agree with Jim's final comment about the background..............................Jim

Nice species, in a pleasant pose. The perch however is rather large compared to the species.. But apparently that's where it sat  . Cheers, Hans

BG works well, sets off the siskin nicely. Like that you have the yellow markings showing, sharpness looks OK. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see them around here soon.
