Images such as this of elephants interacting in this way are quite moving. I would like to see what a touch more contrast would do.

I like the near monotone of the foreground and background which makes the elephants stand out and draw one's attention. You've captured a very peaceful scene of the elephants interacting. On my screen though, the elephants appear to be a bit soft. Richard

Interesting interaction. I like the scene as a whole, but it definitely needs to have a wider range of tonality.

Hi Sandipan! This is a very evocative image with a great deal of potential, in my opinion. I agree with all the comments above...I think a little more contrast would help (introducing some darker darks and lighter lights at least). It does appear to me as well that the subjects may be slightly soft (hard not to have the AF sensor grab those vertical branches in front of the ellies), but if that's not the case in the full res file, I would definitely recommend a higher sharpening setting. I also find myself wondering if this needs just a touch of CCW rotation. In the end, the branches encroaching on the faces of the elephants may keep this from being truly epic, but it is a very fine image and a wonderful moment.

Hi Sandipan,
This is a touching and almost evocative image with a nice emotional pull. I do find it a bit flat tonally, but agree with Richard that this "flatness" may actually help draw attention to the subjects.
Cheers...

Thanks everybody. I do appreciate the feedback. In fact the original scene lacked adequate contrast due to flat front lighting.
I converted the image to B&W with the intention of drawing viewers attention straight to the interactive behavior of the elephants. As some of you have pointed out, I wanted to render the surrounding environment uniformly in monotone in order to make the elephants stand out and to create an emotional impact.
Anyway I tried to rework on the image by introducing tad more contrast and sharpening. Here is the result. Many thanks for your comments and feedback.
