Da Vinci Ram

I came across this guy at the end of a great day, but the sun had already gone down. For that reason, the original image was taken at a high ISO and also intentionally under-exposed a bit, to try and maximize shutter speed.

The net result was a nice pose in an image with too much noise to process effectively.

Well, Topaz Labs recently released their new "Impression" software. I used the Da Vinci filter here, along with some layers in Photoshop to bring back portions of the original image.

1/60 sec @ f/5.0, 100-400mm lens @ 200mm, ISO 1600, -1/3EV

What a Save !
Your processing ideas have worked very well in my opinion.

This turned out very well, Karen! I love the pose. Your processing made this into a very nice artistic image.

This is really a nice save... I wonder what a square format would look like? A cropped square image could put the head at "thirds" and possibly make this a even more compelling image.

Karen, this looks great. Nice save! I also wonder about letting the entire image go sepia for an alternate "old time" look.

Beautiful!
This is why I never pitch an image that has even a little potential - who knows what we can make of it one day.

Vey nice..The vignette gives it an antique look. Would not crop it. Perhaps a tonal contrast to soften background a little.
