D800 200-400mm @ 280mm F8 1/1000 Handheld

Long tailed weasel taken at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Utah. Wish I had gotten all of his "long tail" in the shot, but he didn't stand still for long and I was having trouble framing shots because he was TOO close, not a problem I often encounter.

Nice one Bob! IMHO you did well to get this much of the weasels tail in the image. Great pose you caught. Considering the light direction you did well to get details in the shadows. Thanks for sharing.

Always a tough subject to photograph. The light and cut off tail aren't helping you, BUT the pose and predatory behavior are great. This is a nice capture, Bob.

Hi Bob,

This fascinating little speedsters ARE tough to capture - well done on this. Lighting was tough but you managed it quite well. In a perfect world I think a lower angle would strengthen this shot, but I realize you probably had close to zero time to change your position or "work" with your subject.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
