These parrots live in the arid woodlands of Australia. They spend a lot of time quietly feeding on the ground. Often the first indication of their presence is an explosion of bright green amidst the drab colours of the bush as they fly away.

One of the highlights of any trip to Australia for me is the chance to photograph so many beautiful birds.
One day I'll get as good at it as you Rob. Maybe.

Super looking colours with all the subtle variations showing up wonderfully.

Rob,
Great capture in difficult circumstances, does it ever sit in trees? :toast: :toast:

The plumage is pretty incredible (not a surprise for an Aussie species). Though there is some ground interference, I do like the texture created by the curling stems.

Very good image in tough conditions, Rob. Great look at this spectacular parrot in its habitat, especially with your angle. The branch obscuring the wing tip is a little unfortunate, but nothing you could do about it. :toast:

A beauty Rob. I like how the plant stems seem to dance through out the frame.

Very nice Rob - your usual great detail and colours. The dandelion (?) flowers are a lovely bonus...
