Most of you probably know what this is because of previous posts from this photo shoot, but it fits the theme well. It's a 20 image stack to get top to bottom sharpness. (5D3, 100mm macro IS, 1/640s, f/8, iso 200, tripod)

You sure do great work with your stacks Mark. I haven't seen the previous posts, but this just says snake skin to me. Love the iridescence :toast:

Haven't seen the previous posts either. First thought from the thumbnail was rippled water but the larger images make that seem unlikely. I'd say snakeskin too but I don't see the subject being that cooperative for 20 images. Wonderful iridescence would look good on a living room wall in a modern city loft.

Mark - this is a really fascinating image.... I stared at this awhile and couldn't be sure of what I was seeing. So, I cheated and went to your website to find out was I was seeing. Cool,... I would never have guessed.

Mark,

I like the color sheen on this shed snake skin. Interesting colors and patterns :toast: ........................Jim

Yes, it a shed snake skin floating belly up on the stream between my two backyard ponds. Interestingly, I couldn't see any iridescence from the back or sides of the skin, only the belly.
