One of my uncles lived in Roseburg and we visited often from Indiana. We took many trips up the North Umpqua highway but I had never seen Toketee Falls until our west coast trip last fall. We had limited time so arrived mid afternoon and had to deal with the full sun hitting the trees. At least the leaves were back lit and the falls were in shade. All comments welcome.>=))>

This is really nice Bill. Great light on the tree and the vertical echoes the falls well. I like this one a lot. No suggestions.

Bill, I think the contrast between the sunlit tree and the shaded falls works well here, especially given how strongly vertical both elements are. I could wish for a bit more separation between the two, but it's not clear that you moving left was even possible.

Beautiful warm colors of the tree and a perfect (for me) shutter speed for the water. I know the falls were in shade, but I think I would still brighten that area a bit.

Very nice indeed Bill, the light on the Pine really brings the scene together beautifully. Excellent work.

I love how you portrayed the light and shadow play in this fine capture Bill. I may want to up the shadow area just a tiny bit, but that is a very tiny thought. Beautiful image captured!

This is simply fantastic, Bill. The lighting on the tree is gorgeous and its vertical placement mirrors that of the falls. Excellent image.

A very different comp that I like a lot Bill. The fore ground and back contrast very nicely with just enough shadow detail. Very nice. :toast:

What a wonderful shot!! Love the lit up cedar tree! The contrast in light is spectacular and assists the viewer to take in all aspects of the scene. The verticals lines and shapes make this feel harmonious, too. I'd like to suggest maybe gently dodging the whiter streaks in the waterfall. If I had 3 thumbs…, but how about 2 very enthusiastic ones!

Just a great shot given the challenging lighting contrast. Absolutely no suggestions other than print it large. :toast:

Real nice, Bill. I love the sunlit cedar against the waterfall. Nice job holding the detail in the area left of the cascade.

Well done!

The harsh light really worked to your advantage I think, Bill. It gives some nice separation and depth to the scene. :toast:

How unique Bill! Usually the falls are bright and the vegetation dark. Beautiful gold on the tree, and the water texture is just right. I love what you've done here; one of my favorites from you for sure.
