Deva is no longer with us and my heart aches when I think of her, but then I remember how much she enjoyed her life on this Earth and I have to smile. She was a beautiful Great Pyrenees and one of the happiest dogs I have ever known. She was extremely photogenic so it was always easy to capture her in a perfect pose. Consequently I have enough photos of her with gorgeous landscape backgrounds to fill a coffee table photo book. This was a very early shot while she was still a puppy but already elegant. The light was fading fast but I couldn't resist the pond reflection and the red background.

Hi Gary! Oh man, Deva is a beautiful Pyr! In my experience, most of the giant breeds don't look this good for a big stretch between puppyhood and maturity...she looks gorgeous even as a teen. The setting is insane like all your other posts this week, but a marked departure from the vistas, and I love it. I was playing with "cropping by browser scroll bar" and quite like this with a chunk removed from the top...specifically coming down to just below the rock at the top left 1/3 mark (or so). Not suggesting it's a legitimate improvement, but it simplifies the image a little and makes the incredible reds play a more prominent role IMO.

We've had two female Pyr's as well, one quite similar to Deva and the other with some grey facial markings, but I have NOTHING to show for having had them in our lives...a mistake I've learned from and one you clearly did not make with your canine companions. Beautiful work.

Lovely look at a beautiful dog in a great setting, Gary. Yes, the reflection and red on the hillside are fine additions.
