Wenatchee River Color + REPOST

I love this stretch of river near Leavenworth, WA, Wenatchee National Forest, in an area called the Alps. Makes a great day trip from Seattle with time for a little hiking. Sadly, a lot of the forest burned in one of this summers huge wildfires, but I managed to isolate this scene with river and autumn color.

D750, 70-200/2.8 @70mm, handheld, VR on active; f22, 1/6, +0.67, ISO 200. Post-processing in NIK Viveza and Ps5.

Appreciate your comments.

Pretty autumn scene Catherine, really like the subtle colors and soft light, and your composition works beautifully. There is a controlled burn in one of my favorite spots to photograph in the Pinebush Preserve today at some point, and what I will do is wait for the first hard frost, and see what kind of beauty I can draw from the ashes. Beautiful work.

Nice scene Catherine! I was up there last Sunday and the colors weren't too developed. A lot of dry stuff as well. You found a good spot though!

Nice scene and color. I might have tried to compose so that the green pine wasn't dead-centered on the yellow tree behind it. You managed to do pretty well without your tripod at f22, 1/6 sec, particularly on the sweet water flow, but the background foliage sharpness suffers a bit.

Catherine I've looked at this several times now. I like the image overall and I particularly like the water. I've been considering the centered composition and have decided It works for me. The oddness in the comp for me is mostly the variety of seeming balanced horizontals, verticals and diagonals. In most compositions I can decide on an orientation and I haven't been able to do it here. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just not used to it. (smile)

Beautiful muted colors here and a very agreeable mood to the image.

The rushing water looks good against the gentle fall colors. The juxtaposition of verticals in the trees and horizontals in the water creates some interesting tension. I do think that some dodging of the foliage through the middle would help it pull more attention.

Such thoughtful, insightful comments! Thanks-- much appreciated!
Here's a repost for your consideration, hopefully improved? Also corrected the TITLE! This is the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth, along U.S. Hwy 2. Sorry for the mixup…

I like the repost too Catherine but I think it's a matter of the mood you want to convey. The repost is livelier but I like the original as well.
