Spider in a Bottle

I caught this Phidippus (audax?) jumping spider in my yard, in a plastic centrifuge tube (like a tall, thin prescription bottle). I intended to release it in a spot outdoors where I could photograph it... but it settled down deep inside the bottle and started grooming. So I took its picture by aiming down into the tube -- I think the milky-clear plastic added some diffusion to the flash! Nikon D800, 105mm + 36mm extension, 1/60th @f/16, ISO100, diffused flash.

Expertly done, Tom. Terrific detail and color in this jumping spider. Your technique was inspired for creating diffuse light. :toast:

This is a fine image, Tom. I like the off center position, the subtle reflections of the legs and especially those turquoise (I'm going to guess) mouth parts.
