Took this a long while ago, and probably wouldn't have shot it this way now...but... bandwagon
Taken at the Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island.
Nikon D70 1/10 sec @ f/11 ISO 200
Thanks for taking a look and for your comments.

This is really nice Sanjay. I like the bud nuzzling up against the edge. The light is nice, as are the colors and details. A very pretty photo.

Beautiful, Sanjay. Why wouldn't you have shot it this way now? Just curious. I like the comp and overall presentation with the dark bg and green accents.

Nice capture, beautiful flower...I think after seeing the camera, that bud is hiding behind the petals with shy...

Beautiful light and color. Excellent comp. I like the dark bg with just a hint of green leaves. Nicely done!

The Butchart Gardens is one of my all-time favorite places! For 6mp, the D70 was an excellent camera (my first digital SLR). This is a sweet image. Nothing wrong here!

Thank you all for the comments and interest.
Scott: Since the bud is not clearly visible, I would have either moved it just a bit to show more of it, or I would have moved it so it is not in the frame. I am not sure though, because I generally avoid moving anything in a public garden. Also, I would have shot it at a smaller aperture since nothing seems to be close behind it.
Phil: Yes, love the D70. It was my first DSLR also. Just such a perfect camera. Didn't break the bank either. Agree on Butchart Gardens. I think I got a lot more into flower photography after shooting there. Just such a target rich environment. Everything was in pristine condition and the plants looked like they were on steroids.

Sanjay - Very pretty Dahlia to begin with and a nice composition simply increases the appeal. Lovely frame

Interesting image, Sanjay. The dahlia is very nice with a very pleasing color palette and a very complementary background. I also like the hidden bud and the over all composition. However, I find the cut off leaf and oof stem of the main flower in the bottom a bit distracting.
