Another rose taken at Shore Acres State Park.

Canon 7d
100 mm macro
1/1600 at f2,8
ISO 100

Processed in LR and PS; I painted out two partial roses to give a completely black background. I'm including the original and wonder which is preferred.

Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated and are helpful.

Great folds and lines with the petals. the beads of dew are nice. I wish for just a bit more sharpness out of the bottom of the bloom. Do you have any more shots with a bit more depth of field?

My vote is for the first post, but I'd like a bit more space at the bottom.

The rose covered with dew is gorgeous, Allen. I don't have a preference between the two versions. Sorry. I agree with the suggestions made by both Nathan and Bob/Charly regarding more dof and space at the bottom. Regarding the dof, given the empty, black bg, there is no reason not to try for more dof up front (i.e., front petals), IMO. :wavey:

Allen - Very nice layers and the aesthetic appeal increased by the dew. A bit more frontal depth of field would have made this absolutely perfect. :toast:

Agree with the suggestions on dof and room around the bloom. I too like the single rose. Well processed with excellent color handling.
