Birding has become a bit of an obsession! Love the little humming birds. Here is a female ruby throat.

Hi Justin,
I took the liberty of moving your image over to the Avian Gallery - hope you don't mind.
Cheers...

Hi, Justin. I just finished with your dragonfly in Macro. My critique of this and the other are similar: out of gamut whites and blacks, too much contrast, not enough sharpening. The image is soft. The composition is reasonable, although the twig crossing the beak is correctable. Check out some of the numerous articles on birding and bird photography in the instructions. They are quite good.

Welcome to NPN. Thanks Brad for moving this to Avian. I think you'll find critiques are more valuable if you'll provide technical shooting details: ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture. This is clearly backlit and has caused the image to have little or no detail in the hummingbird. The huge bright white area on the left is a distraction for me to view the subject. At the posted size I can't see much more other than significant noise in the background. An optional 1200 px image is allowed and encouraged, but not required. It will help the viewers with valuable critiques.

I have to agree with Phil & Keith's assessment. Techs and a larger image are important to critique an image.
