I believe this is a variety of Cypress--not sure though. Found in Columbia. Anyway, I really liked the knobs and their texture.

I think I mentioned before, you have a good eye Preston, real nice, the golden color and textures really bring this to life, and your composition works beautifully. Like it alot.

Real nice color and detail. But..... it looks way better to me flipped 180 degrees. The shadows on top of the bulges look weird and the flipped composition flows better for me. Just my 'pinion.

Interesting textures and patterns Preston. I also like the subtle gradations in color. No suggestions.

Here's the image rotated 180 degrees, as Harley suggested.

Which do you prefer?

Just a note on the light in the original: This was early morning. I was in the shade of the tree, and the light was being reflected from the street below, and to the right.

You captured some beautiful details and textures in this intimate landscape, Preston. I think I prefer Harley's suggestion as the knobs are the heavier part of the image and I would expect to see that on the bottom. I hope that makes sense.

Well I'd have to agree with Harley, Preston. I do like it flipped and I do appreciate your affinity for wood abstracts. :toast:

The re post Preston, it has a more natural look in my opinion.

This is very well seen, Preston. The comparison between the two versions and how different they look is fascinating. I like both a lot, but the repost comes with significantly more drama.

Wonderful colors and textures in this Preston and I think the repost seems to have better balance to it. Great eye to spot these images. Well done.

Very well seen and processed. Great texture and sharpness. Makes a great abstract. I slightly prefer the repost as it feels more "grounded" to me, but the original works great as well. :toast:

I like the illusion here Preston. Not sure of those are burls or impressions into the trunk. Very neat.

I love this kind of shot, Preston! This looks so good with the way the light is and the position of all the knobs. They look like sprouting mushrooms. Great texture, wonderful comp.
