Powdered Sugar Mountain

This was taken at the same shoot as "When What to my Wondering Eyes Should Appear. "

As I mentioned in my other post, Red Mountain lies in Southern Utah, USA. This view is looking to the Eastern side of Red mountain as she glows in the morning sunlight under a layer of clouds, fog, mist, and a dusting of snow. Converted to black and white using NIK software. The purpose of the conversion was to emphasize the fog and mist. Next, I added a control point to selectively and very subtlety add a touch color to Red Mountain. The purpose of doing that was to enhance the feeling of powered sugar lying in the crevices of the mountain.

Thank you for your comments.

Best wishes,

Carol

Carol, the "touch of color" is very subtle in the rocks and I think it shows up in the "white balance" as well, with the fog and snow seeming warm. The starkness of the rocks and overall lack of vegetation is pretty amazing. The mist/fog in this post is stronger than in "What to my eyes...", but I prefer the red, white, and blue context of that image.
