Iconic fog

Got fog? We do here in the SF Bay Area, nearly every day during summer, and now sometimes in spring and fall. I may post a few more since fog is a common part of the landscape here, but I wanted to start with the iconic Golden Gate bridge plus fog. This was taken late in the day in August, just as the sun was sinking behind the Pacific. The fog looks a little grey, but I think that's because there wasn't very much light.

Canon 5d,M3, ISO500, f/14, 210mm, 1/100. I think I handheld this one, that's why the high ISO.

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

One of my favorite places in all of tis US of A, Kathy. Good job on the bridge and the fog. IMO, the bay is a little blue. In real life it has been my experience that the waters are mostly gray. But this is coming from a person who normally processes to black and white LOL

Cheers,
Carol

This is very nice, Kathy. You certainly live in the fog capitol of the world. Beautiful light on the Golden Gate. Very iconic and very nice. :toast:

A little less blue and some lightening of the fog and you've got a winner!

Kathy, this is a fine look at the Golden Gate with a good complement of fog. The bridge color looks good to me (and I've seen it several times) and you've got a nice subtle yellow/gold at the top of the sky. The blues, especially in the shaded clouds, do look a bit strong. I always find that blues in the shade are a challenge and I'm convinced that some (and maybe most) of that is the difference between the camera color recording and how the human brain processes our vision. It's well documented that the brain adjusts things so that we perceive shadows as neutral, when in fact they aren't. In presenting an image, the challenge is do you present things as they are or as we see them????

I have no quibble with the color. The red of the bridge is the standout and the other colors play a supporting role. I live in the "land of ugly bridges' so I envy you the opportunity to photograph this icon. It's fantastic!
