This image was taken in S. California in late Winter earlier this year. I was shooting with fellow NPN'er Patrick O'Healey. It was kind of a slow day at the lake for osprey so we set our targets on some terns, double crested cormorants, white pelicans, ducks, and Miscellaneous others including this BCNH. Since I shot this in Raw with my, at the time, brand new D4s with no good converter yet in LR or PS I didn't process this until recently. Patrick has been thinking I've been holding out on him for not sharing. :)
Anyway, the day was not a total loss as we came away with some neat tern images, GBH's, and a host of other birds that were not on either of our lists when the day began. This is how many of us get some of our best images. When we are least prepared for it. Gotta love that.
Well, hope you enjoy this image of a rather common bird. I thought the background kind of made this image for me. Hope you like it. This one's for you Patrick! Larger image included! Thanks for looking.

8 commentsI also like the dark BG. It makes the heron stand out. Good work!
