There Was A Crooked Man

This road and "house" are attached to the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge. It reminded me so much of the old nursery rhyme - There was a crooked man, who lived in a crooked house.......

I am posting a BW treatment of this photo and, right away, I'm posting a color version. Please tell me which one you like best, if at all.......Thanks :wavey:

Hi Lucy.

Amazing that you could find such a quaint scene in such an urban area. Sometimes a scene works better in color and sometimes better in black and white. To my eye, this one is great in black and white. Compositionally it's terrific, with the winding road leading us down to the house. My one complaint (a pet peeve of mine) is that the house appears to be tilted to the right.

Great image Lucy. I'll agree with Buck on both comments.
The B&W is awsome and a great composition with the winding road. I like it much better than the color.
To my eyes, the building is tilted to the right.

I prefer the B&W, Lucy. The terrain looks a tad on the contrasty side, so you might consider reducing the overall contrast and separate the mid tones. I agree about the tilt.

Great processing - I love the gritty feel. I prefer the B&W

Hi everybody...the tilted building is a matter of perspective- how it is angled on the property. If I had leveled the house, then the road would be tilted toward the water, Plus, the old poem goes, " There was a crooked man, who lived in a crooked house....."
