Common Ringlet
by Jim Zablotny
If it sits still, I will stack images for photos taken in tight spots. This common ringlet was found the same day that I photographed the meadow hawk. Cloudy, but bright lighting and a strong wind prevented me from taking a more ideal shot. I was able to fire off 5 shots as this butterfly oscillated from its perch in the wind. Luckily, I was able to get everything in focus across the 5 images. K5 IIs, 300mm f4, 40mm extension, 1/60 sec at f13, ISO 640; 5 image stack Pmax, LR shadows, whites, and curves; CS5 Topaz In Focus for antennae, Topaz Detail, Gaussian Blur of 8.9 pixels with Layers Mask to fix some stacking artifacts in background...........................Jim

4 commentsA very beautiful image of this BF. I have never tried stacking on moving object and your result is proof that it works. The bg is fine but not to sure of the forward OOF stalk. Overall a very pleasing image.
Great post processing, looks good to me!
