Sharp-shinned Hawk

I liked the way the late evening light caught just the edge of this hawk's eye in this pose. I had plenty of shots with the eye fully lit, but this one struck my fancy.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f8, 1/1250, iso 1000, pattern metering, aperture priority. Cropped from a horizontal original-full frame vertically. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Taken on May 3, 2013 in my backyard.

Please check the larger version.

Thanks,

Well seen and captured Dennis. Superb detail and I like the red corner catch light. :toast:

Dennis, the red glow in the eye and the turned head do make for a novel pov. I have experience with how hard it is to get a good view of the small hawks and this is a very good view. The larger version shows marked improvement visibility of the darker areas of the head and back.
