Here's one from my LF archive that I did a little more work on; a little edge burn and saturation/vibrance masking.

This tiny plant was found amongst the stones along the edge of the Merced River at low water in the Autumn of 2012. The rocks were damp with dew and footing was, at best, treacherous. But, Lon, Youssef and I had fun anyway.

Chamonix 4x5
Schneider Symmar-S 210mm
Portra 160 Color Neg, 30 seconds at f-32
TK's Triple Play and Sat/Vibrance Masks

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts and critiques are always appreciated.

This is really nice Preston. Strong comp and I particularly like the texture and color contrasts between the stones and the plant. As usual lots of presence and sense of depth in the image.

Really like the focal point of the plant and the details in the scene. I'm undecided if this looks too warm. I think there is a nice balance of brightness, contrast and saturation, but it seems a bit gold, but that's possibly your intention here, in which case, never mind.

Preston, I like this and it has such a nice feel to me. I think the warmth it has seems to add to that overall feel. Your composition works really nice here.

After reading Tony's comment, I decided to work this a bit more to adjust the color balance and saturation in the stones.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the color. I like the cooler stones in this repost, but I'm certainly open to suggestions.

Many thanks,

Pretty little scene, Preston. For my money, I might back off the adjustment in the repost just a bit. I like it better than the original, so definitely right direction.

Very cool, Preston. the touch of bright green adds a lot. Maybe it's my tired old eyes, but the rocks seem to vibrate in the larger version. I find the repost a subtle but definite improvement, mostly because it seems to have more contrast and more detail in the stones.

Sweet little scene, Preston. I think the repost is an improvement, but to me, somewhere between the original and repost is right on. Love the contrast between the soft green of the plant and the hardness of the stones. Great detail throughout and very cool. :wavey:

Very nice. I really like the splash of green and also the copper flecks in the rocks. Tell Lon to get his fanny back on NPN.

Wonderful intimate scene Preston. My preference is the cooler repost.
