WC-647: Battle "W-Eyes"

So, apparently "Close-up photos of bird and other wildlife eyes" speaks to me, although I'm going way to the 'other' side

Looks as if this guy has seen his share of battles. The image was taken along one of my favorite drives for wildlife photo-ops (Highway 40 in Kananaskis, AB). This fellow, and his friends, will literally hang out in the middle of the road - so I was in my car for this one.

Clipped all the edges equally when cropping to give that 'close-up' feel and used NIK Silver-Efex with some selective colour.

ISO 800, 1/4000 sec at f6.3, 70-300mm lens at 146mm

This is way cool, Karen! I like your tight cropping and since you've clipped a bit on all sides, it makes the tight view feel deliberate...which clearly it was. The eyes are very intense and the overall grayness really puts attention on the eyes.

Sheep eys have an intense look to them. Well captured here. Mark, you are going to have a difficult pick this week. Lots of great entries.

Hey Karen,
I don't trust this guy, his eyes are to far apart . . .
This is a powerful image and really captures the viewers attention with great detail and a wonderful color palette. As mentioned, your framing choice works very well.
This is Too  and an excellent post for this WC.

Love this close portrait, Karne. Lots of character in the face, and I really like the nearly monochromatic color with the brown accents. :toast:

What a great choice you made in post-processing with both the crop and the coloring. I always find bighorn's eyes a bit disconcerting since they are so far apart and they look kind of "bug eyed". Your shot captures this well. Great details in the horns and fur as well.

I really like this, Karen. Excellent processing, I'm usually not a big fan of selective color, but this may be the best use I've seen. Way cool. :toast: :toast:
