or maybe it's Beady-eyed Bill :jump:

This was taken long ago on a trip to California. I'm in awe of the yellow eyes. This is a medium closeup of Great White Egret with a prominent S neck as sighted on a dock in Marina del Rey, California. Unfortunately, LA county has spent money on that deck. It's clean and modern and it's no longer seedy; there are currently more humans than birds.

The camera was a Nikon D200 coupled with a 500mm lens and of course, I used a tripod.

I was using aperture mode at f/8 and ISO 200. The metering was then called "Pattern metering."

C&C welcome.

Best wishes to all,
Carol

Excellent pose and good detail in the bird, the LP shows the yellow eye well. Nicely captured Carol.

Well done, Carol. The whites are superbly rendered. Plenty of texture in the feathers. The contrasting dark bg works well for the bg.

Beautiful Carol. Love the Egret coupled with the black background. Nice eye, but I love the pose. :toast:

What a great pose, Carol, with that curled neck. The whites are indeed very well handled as is the orange in the bill. The background really lets the bird stand out.

I really like this one Carol! As others have mentioned, it's an interesting pose, well handled technically, the background works so well, and then there is that yellow eye! :toast:
