Times are Tough

After a couple weeks of 100 degree temperatures the ponds around the Trinity River are shrinking. This pond used to attract about a dozen or less birds in the morning and now this group.

Evaporation is something to observe over time.

I understand what you are saying. I live in Fort Worth. Where in Dallas is the pond in your photo?

We're pretty dry here in Illinois too. Nice group shot, I like the mirror like reflection.

Interesting shot Rick. We are in extreme drought here in California too. Seems to be a real theme here. Tough is right.

Neat high key image, Rick. I might be tempted to crop it to a landscape format with just the top 60% or so in it-that seems to be where all the fun stuff is.

Hi Rick! I absolutely love this image. Fantastic graphic appeal with lots of drama. I PROBABLY agree with the suggestion for a pano (I assume that's what "landscape format" meant) of just the birds and their reflections, but on the other hand I really like the use of negative space here--it adds a very cool drama and balance to the frame.

I'm not a judge, but I suspect this one could do well in the right competitions. Way cool.

What a great pattern. I tend to side with those who prefer a pano crop. The bottom's a bit too empty for me in this case.

Those mounds or bumps in the water are dead large fish from the shrinking pond. Ugh. :frown:

It's raining here this morning Rick, maybe I'll send some your way?
Great shot showing that "Evaporation is something to observe over time."
Well done :toast:
