Ringed Teal
by Jefferson Silva
Today a friend of mine and I were to a neighbor city to search for Callonetta leucophrys. We were almost returning, after almost 3 hours searching, when I heard the bird calling. We photographed the bird, and then start returning. Right before actually leaving the area where we were, we saw the bird again on a small lake. Then I made some new photos.

5 commentsWhat a cool duck, I also like the environment but I agree about the Counter-clockwise rotation. Nice shot!
I had a hard time focusing on its eyes. I've been trying to shoot with monopod, but I don't think the results are good.
I'll might have another chance to see this bird, I'll try to improve the photo. If I do that, I'll post it here.
Beautiful Ringed Teal and a duck I have never seen in my travels that I can remember, your patience paid-off. I am not a fan of the floating vegetation on the surface, beautiful subjects make beautiful reflections and that was taken away from this image. I do agree with the CCW rotation being needed. Good luck with mastering that monopod, one more thing to fool with in the field can sometimes hinder more than it helps.
Can't wait to see the next encounter . . .
