I thought the bloom to squash growing in our yard was interesting.
D7000, tripod, shutter release, F22, 1.6 sec, ISO100.

I, too, grow squash in my garden, both summer and winter varieties. I've noticed the beauty of the flowers, but I regarded them as too mundane to be photographic subjects. Congrads for photographing one, and for your sensitivity to beauty in your own garden. Maybe you will have reformed my outlook on things. I like the detail in the flower and inferior ovary that will become the fruit, and the exposure with highlights. The choice of a leaf for background is well chosen, and I do not find that its detail distracts from the flower. However, I would have tried to orient my camera to avoid the stem at the top, but maybe that wasn't possible in this situation. But even with the stem present, this is a real nice photo. Thanks, Ron

Ron has given a precise critique, with which I agree.

Bob and Charly - In spite of some compositional challenges in this shot, I quite like it. The curled up flower looks quite interesting. If anything a bit more space on the right for me to prevent clipping of the stem by the right edge.

Have never seen one of these, Bob and Charly, - a fascinating shot. I like the perspective very much - makes for a striking image; only wonder whether the highlights at the top might come down a touch, but very nice as is.

I like the forms and lines in the flower. The highlights are a bit bright on my contrasty Imac, but a unique floral image.

Bob: I've been here a long time and cannot recall ever seeing zucchini as a subject! This is actually pretty cool. My only 1¢ suggestion would be a little more room at the bottom right edge for the stem. Well done.>=))>

This is quite nice. Only con to my eyes is that it might benefit from more space at the top and sides so it wouldn't feel so cramped.
