Nice look at this odd bird. I believe the Kori Bustard is generally recognized as the world's heaviest flying bird. I really like the head turn and the great look at the eye. I would prefer a little more room all around. Also, it looks a little bright on my monitor. Well done. Keep em coming.

Sandy,
This certainly the world's heaviest flying bird, and flight pictures are very difficult.
You have a great pose here, like Jerry I think it could be just a little darker :toast: :toast:

Nice clean portrait, Sandy. Echoing what Jerry said, I like the pose with the slightly turned head here.

Also looks a bit light on my screen.

Cool looking bird. Ditto on the brightness. The larger version also contains an embedded Adobe RGB 1998 color space. sRGB is the preferred color space for web presentation. I put a level adjustment layer on the larger version and moved the blacks slider to 25. That make a huge difference in the presentation. Then pushing the whites slider to 241 allowed the image to take full advantage of the tonal spectrum.

I realize the consensus is too bright, but I actually like it. Almost high key.

A near threatened species, I believe. :toast:

Another beauty, Sandy. Great over-the-shoulder look you managed to get.

The detail is excellent, nice crisp eye. I like the over the shoulder look. Nice setting for this shot!

Excellent pose. Another vote for pulling the brightness down just a little.

Hi Sandy! This is a fabulous image! I love the tones and overall colour palette and the wonderful contrast and patterns in the bird's neck and head. Feather detail looks decent, though perhaps suggests this might be a significant crop? It may be one of those cases where the bird's wing and body feathers are simply too "smooth" to show much more detail than you have here. I love the pose and setting...the head turn is wonderful. I'm sure a slight adjustment to the brightness, or even selective curves, and following Keith's suggestions would all make this pop even more, but honestly it's awfully nice as presented, and sometimes I prefer the softer look and feel as this has.
