I like your comp. John. The brightness of the cone flowers clearly says flash, but that's not necessarily bad...depends on what you're trying to do.

An excellent atmosphere of a covered sunset. The twilight mood invites the eyes to go round for discovering the cone flowers in the grass. I love the scene.
Take care.

John - Nice technique to use for high dynamic range scenes.
A little less of that light for the foreground would be my preference.

I really like the flash you added, along with the sunset. Almost drama captured with the selective light.

An interesting way to encompass the dynamic range. I believe this would be served better with not quite so much flash.

Love the overall tonality, John, and the perspective - the scene has a quiet mood which is very appealing. Not quite sure about the way the flash seems to isolate the flowers so strongly, but I'm not familiar with the technique myself.
