Photographed this lark bunting perched on a dried yucca husk on a very hot late afternoon at the Agate Fossil National Monument in the far western part of the Nebraska panhandle a couple of weeks ago. Very little crop and processing (sometimes you get lucky). Thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated.

John,

That background is outstanding. It has just enough plant detail in the tans to make it even more interesting. I really like the rustic perch also. On my monitor it looks just a tiny bit soft. Perhaps another round of selective sharpening.

Great bird, perch, and BG. No need for all that dead space above , though - cropping much closer to the bird would focus the attention it deserves on the bird. I agree a bit more sharpening would help.

John. Cool bird on a very natural perch. Overall techs look pretty good. I think I'd crop quite a bit from the top. You would still have the tan/blue transition with more emphasis on the bird.

John,
Great catch for both of you
I also agree that a little more sharpening may help.

Nice perch and excellent pose. Love the two toned background.

Lovely, John. Great pose and that perch is fantastic. The only thing I might think about changing is removing the two bright oof grass stems just to the left of the bird-the ones on the right add to the image for me.

A very nice perch for this bunting and great to get it with the bug John. To me it feels like a little too much negative space at the top so I would look at cropping a bit from the top. :toast:

Nice head turn and the meal makes this more interesting. I also would remove much if the top. Would probably crop as an 8x10 vertical.
