Curious Kit

Hi Everyone! This is a different fox kit than the ones my sister and I have been posting. My dad and I found a second family of foxes deeper into the mountains this year and we were excited to discover they were a bit younger. They were SOOOOO cute when we first found them!

This kit wasn't camera shy at all! Once he even approached one of the photographers that was taking pictures so she had to shoo him away.

He had come pretty close to us when a bird caught his attention and he looked up to see what was flying by. I was already focused on him so I just squeezed off a few shots before he turned to investigate the next thing that distracted him.

I hope you like this!

Nikon D7100
Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/4 IF-ED with TC-14EII
ISO 400
1/4000sec @ f/5
-0.3 EV to keep details in whites
monopod

Dad's Processing Notes:
Converted from RAW using Phase One Capture One Pro 7 with minor adjustments to colour temperature, exposure and curves
Light adjustments to tone and contrast using Nik Color Efex Pro 4 and Viveza 2 with additional selective adjustments in PS5
Cropped to app. 85% of original

PS Please view larger image if you have the time...lots of detail to enjoy plus a better look at those beautiful eyes!

Lovely details and pose here Josiah!
Crisp clarity and lovely light adds to it too. In framing - if you have more space - I'd go with less on bottom and right and add more on the left and top, given the strong direction of its gaze?

Nice work, Josiah. The only thing I suggest is that because he is clearly looking up, it would be nice if you could give him a little more space to look into, even if it is just empty background.

The light is great and the expression is really cute. I second the suggestions on the crop. Well done.

Do like the alert pose you have caught this fox kit in. I wonder if a slightly lower point of view would have been better. Good color, sharpness and detail. Thanks for sharing.
