Strangely enough this is the only small Hornbill we have ever seen in Kidepo Valley National Park, Northern.
Is the intersecting horizon a problem?

I personally don't think the horizon is a problem. I like the framing you chose for this shot. My only nit, and it's a small one, is the branch in front of the hornbill. It would have been nice to have an unobstructed view. However, we deal with what we are offered. Nice capture.

They are everywhere in Kruger, Etosha, and surrounding areas. Yellows by far the most common, then red and grays Only saw one "chili-pepper" in 7 weeks. Quite a few ground hornbills, too.
This is a nice capture. To me, the horizon adds interest, not detracts. Nicely placed in the frame, and the branch is what it is!

No problem with the horizon or the occluding vegetation. The detail from the large image is excellent.

Truly a lovely portrait in great light, Ken. Killer BG with that green & blue.

Beautiful light and a nice pose, Ken. The change in bg behind the head doesn't bother me.

Nice job on this Hornbill shot Ken. Pleasing color palette and like the comp. I like the horizon and don't find it distracting at all.
