Hi everyone! I thought this image would be great for this challenge. As usual, this is from Waterton Lakes National Park

. We were on our way down Akamina Parkway when we spotted this Bighorn Sheep ram wandering around. I remember thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool if he climbed on top of that huge boulder?". I guess he read my mind, because a couple moments later he was standing on the top!
Thanks for lookin'!

Congrats!
I'm not sure a wildlife game farm could have provided an opportunity like this overall scene if they'd tried....

For all those questioning my "encouragement" of my daughter here...we were a few yards apart photographing this beautiful ram when she said, "I think I'll take off the 300 and shoot this with the 50." With a landscape like that behind him, I couldn't argue, but he was looking so fine through my 500 I thought, "ha...I've got her beat on this one!"
Not.
I LOVE this image, Jenaya. You made a fantastic decision in the field, handled a very challenging range of exposure perfectly I think, and absolutely nailed the comp. I know you shared with me you weren't sure if the snap you took with your iPhone was better in that it included some of the foreground, but I find this more compelling and dramatic. The viewer is left wondering exactly how high up that ram really is (answer: a fall to backward or even to his left would be hundreds of feet), and the loss of the additional element (foreground) makes this have even more visual punch. I like the three diagonal bands of colour and texture as well.
'Tis a beauty, Jenaya. Wonderfully envisioned, composed and photographed.
Love the positioning of Ram here.
May prefer to tone down the rock.
