Reelfoot Wetlands

The Wetlands of the Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge are a part of the U.S. system of National Wildlife Refuges consisting of an area in Northwest Tennessee and Western Kentucky that consists primarily of a buffer zone around Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee's only large natural lake, which formed after the New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812 and is one of the Mississippi River Basin's richest locations for waterfowl, aquatic life, and other wildlife.
This was a cold and rainy day at the north end boat ramp that accesses Reelfoot Lake which is off in the distance. The water level was about 2 feet below full pool which made for treacherous conditions in these normally already shallow waters full of cypress stumps. Camera hand held , full frame.

Fine look at Reelfoot, Mike. I like the zig-zag waterway leading to all of those cypress trees. Plus the color in the grass on the left and the hints of color in the distant trees add a nice touch of warm contrast to a chilly scene. The larger view looks especially good.

I like the soft colors and the flow of the water through the scene. I agree that a little of the top might help, as the sky is competing with the scenery.

Don't you just hate it when your boat glides over a hidden cypress stump and gets stuck in the middle? Looks like a beautiful spot Mike, and you captured it well. I can imagine all kinds of wildlife appreciating such a location. The orange and greens really make it pop, and your composition of the water path for boats leading out into the larger body made it fun to explore the whole frame.
