Took a while to ID the mystery plant growing underneath our bird feeders. Once the flowers started displaying was able to determine it is a moon flower.

Canon EF-100mm 2.8 macro USM
tripod, cable release, live view

John - I recently got to know Datura has another name - Moon Flower. I have made photos like you have and I find the moving circle of the petals quite interesting.

You can think of centralizing the composition and I think a shooting angle completely parallel to the face of the flower might have had a better impact.

John, I love the swirl created by the petals. I had never known that Moon flower is another name for Datura. And I would never have guessed the ID from this photo.

Best wishes,
Carol

I love the other interesting colors in the flower petals. Maybe it's my monitor, but I think it could use a little levels boosting of the whites :toast:

I like this shot and the exposure. I would try a different crop, maybe portrait, but thats my preference. I like the darker exposure, giving me an abstract feel. Very unique bloom I haven't seen before.
