Paddling away

I was just on a vacation (literally 5 miles from home) on Fire Island, just across the bay. There are no cars and the "town" I was staying in has 1 restaurant/bar and a small grocery store and that's about it. There is little wireless reception and as such it's a great place to disconnect. I made a conscious effort to take some different photographers and get back into photography which has fallen by the wayside as of late. This particular evening was very calm and I took a risk and put my Nikon V1 in a dry bag and went out into the bay on my paddleboard. Things worked out perfectly with this image as my wife and two strangers paddled toward the setting sun.

Nikon V1 10-30mm lens @ 27m
f/6.3
1/160s
ISO 100

Full Frame, adjustments in LR5

Works well for me Luke. Love the sense of scale the people add.

Luke, This is very nice! What a great mood and your wife and the other two people really helped make it. Very Nice work!! Sounds like it was a nice time there for you and getting disconnected. I know I always enjoy that feel.

Nick - thank you. It was amazing that it happened organically - not setup involved. The feeling was great, though it was diminished a bit when I realized I could see my workplace across the bay (it's located on the highest point so it's easy to spot!)

Looks like a wonderful evening for a paddle, Luke. You've got an interesting mix of subjects with the SUPers and the setting sun placed nicely against lots of gently colored negative space.
