Scape Goats

This nanny and her kid were photographed at 14,000 ft near the summit of Mt Evans in Colorado overlooking a precipice. Witnessing the fearlessness, agility and spunk of the Mountain Goats, especially the kids, was a real education.

Marin,
This is wonderful, but as I suffer from vertigo, I will not look at it for very long

It's a busy background, but I love it. Lots of great tones and texture to it.

You have managed to capture a scene that I in several trips over the years to the Mt. Evans area have not! And it is very well done. Good tones in the goats coat as well as good exposure in the BG. Brings back good memories. Thank you very much for sharing.

Marina,
You were well positioned for this capture, the lighting is sweet and the BG tremendous. Would love to see the techs on this image.

Beautiful view in the bg, Marina. I'm interested in your techs for this as it looks like you had an enormous dof. One very minor nit is the two tips of oof rock protruding into the bottom of the frame. With everything else so sharp they tend to draw my attention.

Hi Marina,

This is really nice - excellent 'scape (and, BTW, that's a GREAT title for this shot!). I have no real nits here at all - nicely, nicely done. Well, I lied, I do have ONE nit - wishing you could have shared your techs with us (many find them useful in writing critiques or, in a case like this, many might benefit from seeing how you pulled this off from a technical perspective).

Cheers...

Brad

So sorry I forgot to include the techs. Since I don't know how to edit my original post, here they are:

Canon 1D3, Canon 24-105 @ 105mm
F13, 1/800sec, ISO 400, manual mode
Handheld

Thank you for all the comments!

Stunning! :toast:

My only nit (really minor) would be the OOF rocks in the foreground. Not sure if a crop would help or hurt though as I really like the position of the goats as presented.

Excellent Marina! I've yet to get my first goat shot, and when I do, I only hope it's half as good as this! :toast:
