Wasps are NOT welcome around our garden because of their predatory activity on our caterpillars but I had a moment's mercy on this guy when he landed in my composition of this day lily. He must have sensed his danger because he immediately flew off after I got this one frame. The BG is my large diffuser set behind the flowers. I metered off the BG to get the high key effect. Time for me to go wasp hunting. If I kill it I won't need a model release. All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill - Nice high key background - couple of smudge marks in the lower left corner.

Wasp is pretty cool addition but I know they can be nasty. Last year I saw a Wasp takedown a dragonfly in no time.

Ram: Thanks for catching the smudges; I cloned away a stem going across the corner and thought I got it all. Bill

Hi Bill.
A different photo of your favorite and most photographed flower but beautiful as usual.
For my personal survey: 'Do you think that an insect adds or detracts something to a floral photo?'
Cheers.

Make sure you hit that puppy square on. The red wasps tend to get a little crazy and go after you! Thanks for the idea on the diffuser; I will get one and take a try at it some time soon. Well done, btw. :toast:

Wonderful hight key lily portrait, Bill. Perfect exposure and dof for the flower. The wasp is nicely captured and adds interest, but the image is great for the flower alone. :toast:

Wonderful detail on the flower and I like idea of using a diffuser for a different background. The wasp adds an extra element and once the corner smudges are cleaned up you have a very nice image, way to go.
