Pelican Sunset WC641

This is the first time I used a circular polarizer, with my first DSLR.
From Abalone Point at Patrick's Point State Park in Northern California. Pelicans were cruising at Sunset.

Canon Rebel XT, f5.6, 1/1250 sec, iso 400, 300 mm (75-300 lens, No Image Stabilization) beanbag on a rock. Cropped to about 80% of original trying to get better balance/composition. Taken in 2006.

Please see repost below with straightened horizon line.

Looks like the end to a beautiful day Ed
Very nice look at these three in silhouette, and their three distinctly different wing positions make it 'fly'..
Great first use of your CP, well done :toast:

Nicely taken. I like the positions of the pelicans as you have captured them. Exposure looks right on. In a way you have 3 images in one, the pelicans being one, the sunset being a second, and as you have posted. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Ed,
Great timing on this one and the pelicans really add to this image. That sun however is superb with the layered colors and almost ready to touch the water. I can imagine sitting with friends and a cold beer after a long day enjoying this scene and sharing stories around the fire pit. Just a bit of CCW rotation is needed to level the horizon on this beautiful composition.
 Man !

Great view of the setting sun and with the three pelicans in perfect position.

Beautiful colors in this one Ed, especially the banded sun going down. The pelicans were caught perfectly in flight with their wings in different positions, equally spaced (did you choreograph this? biggrin: ) and with a little more room to fly to the right. My only nit is the horizon; I drive myself crazy fixing mine, even after using the lines in my VF.

I like this a lot Ed. Very simple, yet at the same time, visually impactful - for all the reasons others have mentioned :toast:

I noticed that the bottom of the first posting seemed to be draining a bit to the right . . . I hope I got the reposted horizon line a bit straighter this time. Thanks for the input.
