Yellowstone Spring

This year in the middle of May, spring was just getting started in Yellowstone with the grasses greening very nicely, but just a few leaves starting to show on the Aspens and Cottonwoods. Here's a cloudy day view of the spring colors on the slopes of Specimen Ridge near the Bridge over the Lamar river. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 130mm, f/16, 1/125s, iso 400, tripod and polarizer)

Nice comp Mark. My eye follows the willows right into the scene and there's a lot of interest from the changing colors and layers as I go. I like the image as posted. No suggestions.

I'm enjoying your Yellowstone images, Mark. I like all the varied vegetation, especially the willows. The appears to be a magenta cast in the cottonwood/aspen forest, so you might want to de-saturate the magentas a bit. I like the composition and the expansive view.

Mark, I like the view from this spot, but I'm on the fence just a bit about the bush in the LRHC here. Just past that bush is a good open and interesting landscape for me.
To my eyes this has a look of some of my Velvia shots with the amount of magenta in low light. Good or bad, I love Velvia but find in many cases color correcting the magenta out. In this case I think it's brought on by too much blue overall tweaking the neat red out there. Maybe color balance toward more yellow or drop the saturation on the blue. Just some thoughts.

I really like the layers here, Mark. Beautiful spring colors. I might reduce the blue in upper left a little but really sweet as presented. :toast:

This is just clam and beautiful. I think the colors are soft here.

Nice layering image and leading lines Mark. It is kind of disheartening to this grove of aspens on the decline. Once best grove in the park I think.

Agree with the others, this is a diverse and very nice looking scene! Lots of things going on, without being chaotic.

Very nice, Mark! I think you did nice work with the comp here and enjoy all the layering it shows. A nice combination of colors and textures as well.
