The Road to Perfect Light
by Rick Lundh
This was taken this last Saturday morning at the infamous Parkdale meadow, near Mount Hood. After running across a field to set up for a straight on meadow/mountain shot, I ran back across the field and manuvered through a loosely strung barbed wire fence and headed to the road. I wanted to find some kind of foreground material which might add to the dramatics of the scene and add storyline to the shot.
This is what I came up with. I set up right in the middle of the road, tripod nearly flat, one ear listening for cars (there's plenty of room to watch too). I wanted to lead the eye with the center strip of the road parallel to the right edge of the frame right up to the mountain, and then over to those ominous clouds and back down to the fenceline.
This image is one exposure, masked and blended with a 1.5 lighter compensation for the road and foreground. The foreground does still appear a bit dark, but hey...it was early morning and this is pretty much the way it was out there...
I hope ya'll like it!?

I LOVE this!
The sky is awesome and the road into FG adds interest. Good composition.
